More deck boards

On thursday I spent around 4 hours laying most of the deckboards that hadnt already been done and it got to late to work on it anymore. The next day I finished of laying the boards and made a temporary step and also ran a cedar face down the side parallel to the house so the ends of the joists wouldnt be exposed. You can see all of this in these pictures.

Laying deck boards

Yesterday I attemped to finish off laying the deck boards but was short handed on screws. Today after a trip to the store I will be able to finish my deck boards and move on to the stairs and handrails. This picture shows how far a 5lb box of deck screws got me.

Construction

Yesterday I built half of the frame for my deck and began laying deck boards. The reason for only building half the frame was because I didn't have enough wood for the other half. Today I went to the lumber store and got the rest of the wood now I am ready to finish the frame and the rest of the deck boards when its not as wet out.

Clean Up from demolition

Today I finished the clean up from the demolition and the mess that was under the old deck. I also helped my dad get rid of all the old rotten wood. One thing that I found interesting was that under the deck there was a huge hole over 25 feet deep probably for an old septic tank or something but I am posting a picture of that to.

Demolition

Today I took the day off to finish the demolition of my deck. I took the entire deck down and stacked all the wood into a pile to get it ready to load and take to the dump. The next step is to clean out what was under the deck and leftover from the demolition and make the area a clean site to began construction. The pictures are backwards but you can see the process as it took place.

Outline

Today Ms. Butler and I went over the outline article and I now understand what I need to do and how to do an outline for my research paper and have began to do it.

Deconstruction

Today I began the deconstruction of my deck to see how the joist and supports looked. Once I removed a few deck boards I saw that all the joists and supports will need to be replaced. In the pictures included you can see the deck before deconstruction and what it looks like once the demolition had started. The pictures also show the rotten boards and even worse rot that was found underneath.
